Key Features:

• Excellent Bath Treatment:Effective for treating ulcers, parasites, and infections in koi fish at a 10ppm dose (10 ml/40 litres for 30 minutes).
• Pond Water Cleaning:Can also be used for general cleaning of pond water, reducing chemical oxygen demand at a 1ppm dose rate (10 ml to 400 litres).
• Multiple Application Methods:As a treatment for the entire pond, dose at 2ppm (10 ml to 200 litres). The dosage calculator provided is specifically for calculating a full pond water dose at a 2ppm level and should not be used for calculating bath doses at 10ppm.
• Effective Treatment Duration:Permanganate remains effective as long as the water stays pink for 10-12 hours. If the water turns brown, the permanganate has become ineffective, and more should be added bit by bit until the water remains pink.
• Emergency Neutralization:If overdosed, you can rapidly neutralize the treatment using NT Labs Koi Care Chlorgo or, in an emergency, a small amount of cow’s milk. The excess energy from the permanganate will be spent neutralizing the organic material, ensuring it does not harm the fish. After neutralization, the water will turn brown, signaling safety, and a water change should be performed to refresh the pond.

However, for best results in treating infections, it is recommended to use it as a bath in clean water, where it remains active for the full duration of the treatment.

One of the key features of permanganate is its reaction with organic material, which causes it to break down and lose efficacy. Therefore, its important to ensure the water remains pink for 10-12 hours to maintain its effectiveness. If the water turns brown, additional permanganate should be added gradually until the pink color persists.

In case of an overdose, you can quickly neutralize the treatment using Koi Care Chlorgo or, in urgent situations, a small amount of cow’s milk. This will deactivate the permanganate, turning the water from red to brown, signaling that its safe for your fish again. A partial water change should be performed afterward to refresh the pond.
