DL-Acetyl Methionine Injection acts to detoxify the liver.

LIVER PROTECTANT:

An early study in horses confirmed methionine administered prior to or within 2 or 4 hours after exposure to a liver toxic agent (chloroform) protected the liver from injury.

Methionine by injection should prove useful to protect the liver against certain types of
injuries and aids organ repair.

Several other reports indicate methionine, an essential amino acid, assists in the breakdown of fats in the liver (fatty liver disease cattle). Also it detoxifies the liver and the body of heavy metals.

DL Methionine protects tissue from free-radical damage. As a lipotropic agent, it plays a fundamental role in healthy liver function. It has antioxidantactivity, protects the liver and lympathatic system and other tissues throughout the bodyagainst free-radical damage.

A recent report indicates methionine exerts an antioxidant effect although the mechanism is yet unidentified.

The findings of this study demonstrate that methionine reduces free-radical formation in
endothelial cells. This novel, indirect antioxidant action might be relevant for prevention of inflammationand oxidative stress.

Methionine is not synthesised by the body and must be supplemented.

Composition:
Acetyl-methionine 200 mg/mL.

Actions:
Detoxification of the liver.

Indications:
Supportive treatment of liver disease (protection of the formation of free-radicals in tissues).

Withholding Period:
NIL Racing. It is preferable to suspend administration 48 hours
before racing.
